About Teatro Marco

Teatro Marco is a volunteer-driven Filipino fringe theatre company and black box venue in Maginhawa, Quezon City – a space for new stories, bold ideas, and the indie spirit of theatre.
We believe there should always be room for artists to make work outside the usual rules – to experiment, take risks, try something strange, say something uncomfortable, or simply tell a story that might not find a stage elsewhere.
Teatro Marco exists to give that work a home and to introduce more audiences to Philippine fringe theatre: raw, immediate, unpredictable, and alive.
Make Space
New voices need somewhere to begin. We want artists to have room to develop ideas, put work onstage, and find the people who connect with it.
Take Risks
Not everything has to follow a familiar formula. Fringe gives artists freedom to play with form, genre, language, staging, and what theatre can be.
Stay Unfiltered
We are drawn to work with personality and a point of view – funny, messy, provocative, personal, irreverent, or difficult to put neatly into a box.
What We Do
A home for new Filipino stories.
We develop and present original plays, independent productions, festivals, readings, workshops, and other creative projects.
Our programming is rooted in contemporary Filipino experiences and voices, while leaving artists free to explore comedy, identity, culture, politics, relationships, everyday life, and everything in between.
The Fringe Spirit

Fringe theatre can happen without the scale or conventions of a traditional production. That freedom makes space for new voices, unusual formats, small teams, limited runs, unfinished questions, and ideas worth testing in front of a real audience.
We want to help that culture grow locally – creating more opportunities for artists to make work and more ways for audiences to discover what Filipino theatre can be.
Our Venue

Teatro Marco is a flexible, intimate venue for performances, rehearsals, readings, workshops, and creative gatherings. Productions can reshape the room according to the needs of the work rather than conform to a fixed stage.
Being in Maginhawa places the theatre within a neighbourhood of students, artists, independent businesses, food, and creative communities – the kind of environment where an indie theatre belongs.

Teatro Marco is volunteer-driven. Actors, writers, directors, designers, producers, theatre workers, front-of-house volunteers, marketers, and supporters all contribute to the work that reaches our stage.
We hope the space becomes a place where people can meet, collaborate, learn from one another, test ideas, find an audience, and keep creating.
